Well i guess i should fill you in on the last week that we have been here instead of just talk about leaving! It was mostly a normal week besides having to say goodbye to all of our awesome teachers. Its so wierd thinking that most of our teachers were chums age. In fact one of them i even treated kind of like chum. Irmao machado probably the most. He was a really good teacher and he was the only native portuguese speaking teacher. He grew up and served in brazil and starting writing one of his companions sisters as a joke to tease his companion. well eventually they met and a little bit later they got married and he moved here. So now his companion from his mission is his brother in law and one of his best friends. its pretty funny. he also has fun learning games that we get to learn with. They all do his are just more often. He works at techanos (or however it is spelled) so if you guys are ever headed there and are served by a brazilian named vini thats probably him! So we mostly said goodbye to him but i think we will see him one more time tonight but he will be teaching a different class. We said goodbye to irmao nothum also. He is also about chums age. Hes the one that has been here since the beginning but took a break to visit his family. We are actually his last class because he is getting into teaching middle school kids and has a lot of other things going on so he actually quit after he finished with us. He was also a really great teacher. And he informed us his last day that he has a girlfriend now. We were all super excited for him. Our last teacher irmao clements we have one more class with tonight. He reminds me more of myself then the others. They all served in Brazil. So all together in the mtc i was taught 2 times by a cabo verde teacher, and i think 1 time by a portugal teacher and a bajillion times by brazil teachers. Its really wierd because a lot of them are pretty close to my age. In fact if i had come out a litle bit later the 18 year olds that left that are my age would be back and they might be teaching. that would have been kind of wierd. haha.
So quite a bit of interesting things happened this week. Everyone in our zone that left the time we did was reassigned except the cabo verde missionaries and Sister Young (the sister heading to brazil in my zone). Which means like 23 missionaries heading to portugal go reassigned to various places. It was rough. Because everyone that goes to brazil is expecting to be reassigned but portugal missionaries almost never have visa issues. Anyways a day or two later it turns out their visas went through and all have been accepted so far except like 5. so only 5 reassignments. But we wont know any of the portugal missionaries travel plans until 2 today. i might get on to give you all an update. But im not totally sure yet.
Well yesterday being the last sunday in the mtc and also a fast sunday i was in meetings pretty much allllll day. It was nice but it was tough to stay awake at a lot of times. I think they only time we werent was dinner and the sunday walk and like an hour and half of study time. so about 3 hours werent in church. haha so no complaining about 3 hours of church little boys!
Well i think thats about it for this week stuff that sticks out. This morning sister Young left for brazil. the fact that she got her visa is pretty crazy and we got up to see her off a little bit early this morning. Now the rest of the day is going to be packing and cleaning and stuff to get ready for the trip tomorrow. Its crazy leaving. Not so much the mtc, i mean the mtc is fun and its very good for learning but im pretty ready to be out of here. But the hard part is leaving behind the district. I cant speak for the rest of the mission yet but after you leave your family and you need people to be around and grow close to you are with your district at all times so thats pretty much what they become. Im hoping it gets easier as you go to leave areas but im not so sure especially because we will have to leave investigors and members too after we are in the field. But i will do my best!
I love you all at home and thank you all for everything you do. I have the last physical letters to send off today at somepoint for you all. Boa sorte with everything that you all are doing.
Love Elder McMullin
